Welcome to Department of Textile and Clothing Technology
The University of Moratuwa, situated 18 km south of Colombo is the Centre of Excellence for engineering, technological and architectural studies in Sri Lanka. The Department of Textile and Clothing Technology of the University is one of the Departments in the Faculty of Engineering and is the first of its kind in the Sri Lankan University system.
From its humble beginnings in 1976 as a sub-department of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department has progressed by leaps and bounds to become a unique provider of expertise, consultancy and testing facilities to the Textile and Apparel industry, which is the flagship industry of Sri Lanka.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations The all night pirith chanting ceremony & the inauguration ceremony were held to commemorate the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Department of Textile & Clothing Technology. The pirith ceremony was held at the department auditorium with the participation of Head of Department, Staff members from other departments, Departmental Staff, past graduates and Undergraduates.
